Chinese Archaic Jade Vase, Han Dynasty Style
Description
A Chinese jade vase carved in an archaic style that draws heavily from Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). The vessel resembles a Fang Gu or square-form vase. Its square body with vertical flanges (notched ridges). The central panel features a stylized taotie (mythical gluttonous beast) or animal mask, a primary decorative motif in early Chinese ritual art intended to represent protection or spiritual communication.
