Antique Japanese Edo Period 62 Plates Samurai Suit of Armour
Description
Exceptional and all matched Edo period (1603-1868) Daimyo honkozane 62 plates samurai armor. The 62 plates Ken-suji kabuto is in pristine condition with Japanese black lacquer and Kebiki Odoshi. (High-grade samurai lacing) Family kamon on fukigaeshi (kabuto ears). Maedate or front decoration is a fierce Oni devil with teeth. The cuirass or Dou is Hon kozane, the most expensive to make, so only the rich Daimyo could afford those. On the tip of the Kuzazuri, (lower part of the cuirass, protects hips and thighs) there is animal fur. The menpo (face protection) is in excellent condition with a very big and thick deer fur moustache. Circa 1700-1750. No black base included.
Condition: Oni devil horns have been restored.
