La Mailloche a Beauport Quebec Studio Art Glass Egg Paperweight Signed
Description
A large signed purple swirl hand-blown glass egg shaped paperweight from the renowned La Mailloche studio, which was originally located in Beauport, Quebec. The studio was founded in 1976 by Jean Vallieres (1947-2009), a highly respected master glassmaker in Quebec. While it began in Beauport, the workshop later moved to Place-Royale in Old Quebec City, where it became a staple for tourists and art collectors. The studio was famous for using traditional techniques to create decorative and functional objects, such as vases, pitchers, and paperweights. Following the death of Jean Vallieres in December 2009, the studio closed its doors. His creations are now considered collectible pieces of Quebec’s artisanal history.
Hand signed on underside, La Mailloche a Beauport.
Dimensions: 6 inches H x 4 W.
