Description
Rare Louis XV Gilt and Patinated Bronze Wild Board Desk or Mantel Clock C. 1735 often referred to as pendule au sanglier, featuring a patinated bronze wild boar figure supporting a gilded bronze (ormolu) clock drum, all resting on an ornate, rococo-style gilded bronze base. Some retouching to enamel clock dial, mechanism marked PIA – A Paris, for Jean-Baptiste Pia, who was active in Paris during the mid-to-late 18th century and produced luxury animalier clocks during the Louis XV and early Louis XVI periods.
Dimensions: 11 inches H x 7 W x 6 deep.
Condition: Some retouching to enamel, untested.
