Antique Victorian 14K Gold and Diamond Bee Brooch with Emeralds and Rubies
Description
Victorian-style insect brooch depicting a bee, crafted with a mix of precious gemstones and metals. The piece features a prominent cabochon emerald at its center (the thorax or body). The wings and abdomen are encrusted with numerous rose-cut diamonds, which are characteristic of the 19th century due to their flat bottoms and faceted dome shape. Small rubies are used for the eyes and small rose-cut emeralds are decorating the body.
Materials: 14k yellow gold, diamonds, rubies and emeralds. Unmarked but acid tested.
Symbolism: In Victorian jewelry, the bee was a popular motif representing industry, efficiency, and devotion.
