Description
19th C Grand Tour Signed Augusto Rohrich bronze sculpture of the Discobolus of Myron, an iconic ancient Greek masterpiece from the Classical period. Mounted on a tall, decorative pedestal composed of several tiers. Bronze depicts a youthful male athlete captured in a dynamic pose, poised to throw a discus. The original bronze statue (now lost) was created by the Greek sculptor Myron around 460-450 BC. It is widely considered an emblem of human beauty and a symbol of athletic excellence.
Dimensions: Bronze measures 27 inches H x 16 W, 43.5 inches H x 15 W, slate and red marble measures 7 inches H, as a whole the sculpture stands 77 inches H.
