Antique devotional hand-painted porcelain plaque of the Madonna and Child set within an intricately carved oak frame. The central image is a reproduction of the painting Madonna of the Olive Branch by Italian artist Nicolo Barabino, depicting the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child with olive branches, symbolizing peace and divine blessing. With Latin inscription Quasi Olivia Speciosa in Campis (Like a majestic olive tree in the plains) from the Book of Sirach to describe the beauty and grace of the Virgin Mary. Small shrine / travel altar is set into a tabletop easel: The ebonized wood and ornate, spindled design are characteristic of Aesthetic Movement or Napoleon III styles from the late 19th century. 

Dimensions: Shrine measures 15.5 inches H x 8.5 W x 2 deep. Easel measures 21 inches H x 9 W, 14 inches deep as easel.
