Description

Peruvian folk art animal effigy vessel, possibly a dog. This style of hand-painted pottery is a modern representation of ancient Pre-Columbian ceramic vessels known as askos. 


Form: It is shaped like a stylized animal, possibly a dog.
Design: Made of red-brown terracotta or clay and decorated with traditional floral and geometric motifs in white.
Functional Elements: It features a hollow body with a cylindrical opening at the back for filling and a spout at the head for pouring, connected by a central handle.
Dimensions: 9 inches H x 9 L x 5 deep.
Condition: Some loss to paint, re-glue to ear.
