Antique map by Jacques Peeters, titled Presqu Isle de l’Inde dela le Golfe du Gange. While often associated with the year 1692 from his atlas L’Atlas en Abrégé, similar editions were published throughout the late 17th century, including 1696
This "double map" is famous for its clever layout that places Southern India (left) and Southeast Asia (right) side-by-side on a single sheet, effectively "removing" the Bay of Bengal to save space.
Dimensions: 5.5 inches H x 6.5 W within matting, frame measures 10 x 11 inches.
