Description

Wedgwood black basalt jardiniere, circa 19th century. Marked on underside, Wedgwood. 

Material and Finish: It is made from black basalt, a type of stoneware with a distinctive matte black finish developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the late 18th century. 
Design: The piece features neoclassical decorative elements, including lion mask ring handles and garland swags of grape vines in relief. 
Function: Originally used as a planter or decorative pot, such items are highly collectible today due to their historical significance and craftsmanship. 
Dimensions: 3.75 inches H x 4 diameter.
