Description

A handcrafted modernist pendant by Israeli designer Uri Ramot, known for creating jewelry that incorporates authentic Ancient Roman glass. Signed on verso, dated 1979.

Design and Material
The jewelry typically features a large, biomorphic, or leaf-shaped body made of 925 sterling silver. The central element is a fragment of ancient glass, often sourced from archaeological excavations in Israel. This glass is dated to periods ranging from the 1st to the 12th century A.D..
The iridescent surface of the glass, known as patina, is formed over nearly 2,000 years through oxidation and contact with mineral-rich soil. Because of the natural variations in the glass and the handmade silver work, each piece is considered one-of-a-kind.
Dimensions: 3 inches H x 1.5 W.
