a traditional Inupiaq (Inuit) shamanic mask from the Point Hope area of Alaska. 


Culture: Primarily attributed to the Inupiaq people of Northwest Alaska, specifically from Point Hope or King Island. 
Material: Often carved from driftwood or red cedar, then stained or painted. 
Purpose: These masks were central to shamanic ceremonies and ritual dances, particularly in the winter months following the freeze-up. They served as conduits for shamans to communicate with the spirit world, often under the protection of animal guides. 
Dimensions: 11 inches H x 6 W.
