Description

An ancient cocked hat oil lamp, a type of saucer-shaped lamp made from pottery that was common in the Levant region. 

Function: It was designed to hold olive oil, with a flax wick placed in the oil and resting in the pinched nozzle to provide light. 
Design: The distinctive "cocked hat" shape was formed by folding over the rim of a shallow bowl to create a nozzle for the wick. 
Historical Context: These simple lamps were ubiquitous in daily life throughout the ancient Mediterranean world for centuries. 
Dimensions: 5 inches W x 5 deep.
