18th C Mezzotint Engraving by John Brooks  of Thomas Carter (c. 1690-1763), who served as the Secretary of State for Ireland. 


The image is a mezzotint created by the engraver John Brooks in the mid-18th century. It was based on an original oil painting by Charles Jervas (1675-1739), an Irish portrait painter who was well-known for his work in London. 
Sitter: Thomas Carter, an influential Anglo-Irish politician.
Artist: John Brooks, after Charles Jervas.
