Description
Carved wooden helmet mask attributed to the Kuba peoples of the Democratic Republic of Congo, featuring the characteristic stylized facial geometry of Kuba masquerade traditions. The mask displays a symmetrical face with half-closed almond-shaped eyes, prominent ears, and rectangular grid-pattern scarification motifs carved on the cheeks. A central ridge runs vertically along the forehead, emphasizing the sculptural structure of the face.
The lower edge retains remnants of a raffia fiber collar.
