Description
A rare sculptural brass vide poche centerpiece bowl by Mathieu Mategot, produced in Paris and stamped “MATEGOT PARIS INATERABLE” to the base.
This striking mid-century modern form features an elongated, asymmetrical silhouette resembling a stylized leaf or folded wing. The pressed and bent brass body rises dynamically from an angular integrated base, creating a floating architectural profile characteristic of Mategot’s refined post-war metalwork.
The surface retains a richly developed natural patina with tonal variation and oxidation consistent with age, enhancing the sculptural depth of the piece. The impressed Paris mark confirms period production.
