Description

Small carved Soapstone head depicting a stylized human face with pronounced brow ridge, almond-shaped eyes, broad nose, and softly modeled lips. The compact sculpture is rendered with a rounded cranial form and simplified facial planes characteristic of Nunavik carving traditions of the mid-20th century. The underside retains collection and inventory labels identifying the work as attributed to M. Shaqu and dating the carving to approximately 1975.
