Description

A very large Italian Maiolica dish (tin-glazed earthenware) featuring a detailed polychrome bacchanal scene. The scene depicts Silenus, the drunken tutor of Bacchus (Dionysus), as a fleshy, elderly man, inebriated and supported by satyrs or bacchants  

Origin: Urbino
Measuring 18.75 inches diameter. 
Condition: Hairline crack, restoration to one edge. Some chipping to rim glaze. Please see photos.
