Description

Muromachi period (1336-1573) long katana NBTHK attributed to Kashu Norimitsu. Kashu resided in the Kaga province that was ruled by Maeda clan when Norimitsu was alive. The Kaga province was very rich at the time, and it is believed that Norimitsu might have forged swords for samurai warriors living in the Kaga domain since he served Maeda clan. The mumei (unsigned) blade is 26.9 inches and is free of blemishes and scratches, almost perfect. The koshirae is superb, with an iron forged Sukashi tsuba, a very complex carved shaped guard. The Habaki is copper. The blade has been attributed to Kashu Norimitsu  by the NBTHK with Tokubetsu Kicho (“especially precious” green paper. In koshirae, sword measures 39.5 inches L, blade measures 27.5 inches x 1 inch. [This lot is being sold again as it was purchased by a fraudulent bidder]
