An Antique Chinese Buddhism Temple Bronze Figure of Buddha
Description
This antique Chinese Buddhism temple figure depicts Buddha seated in a meditative pose atop a separate double-lotus pedestal. The hollow-cast bronze figure, features the right hand lowered in the bhumisparsha mudra, or earth-touching gesture, while the left hand rests in the lap. The figure is characterized by a serene facial expression with downcast eyes, elongated earlobes, and a head covered in traditional snailshell curls. The deity is dressed in flowing robes adorned with low-relief scrollwork and floral motifs along the borders, secured with a sash tied in a bow at the waist. The interior of the casting shows substantial residue and wear consistent with age. Seated atop a separate lotus form base.
