Long Native American Penobscot Birch Bark Canoe Model
Description
An antique Native American birch bark canoe model, finely constructed in traditional form with bentwood ribs, plank thwarts, and stitched bark hull. This hand-crafted model canoe is an Eastern Woodlands birch bark vessel, consistent with Penobscot construction techniques. The hull is formed from birch bark sheets with seams sealed using a dark resin or pitch. The interior contains a wooden frame with multiple ribs and gunwales, including five wooden thwarts. The gunwales are finished with decorative lashing.
