Lot 390:
Peruvian Folk Art Copper and Brass Church Form Sculpture with Bells, Cross and Blue Cabochons
Description
Peruvian folk art devotional sculpture in the form of a stylized church or chapel façade, executed in hand-worked copper and brass elements. The architectural body features a central arched doorway and flanking tower forms surmounted by pointed finials. Each tower houses a suspended bell, adding a kinetic and ceremonial quality to the piece.
The surface displays a richly developed green and brown patina consistent with age and oxidation, contrasting with warm copper highlights at raised edges. The upper elements are set with deep blue cabochon-style stones, enhancing the ecclesiastical character. A small cross crowns the central arch motif.
The construction appears hand-fabricated from cut and formed sheet metal, assembled into a compact architectural composition typical of Andean devotional and folk metalwork traditions.
Height: 4.25 inches (11.1 cm).
