18th C Dutch Delft Blue and White Faience Covered Jar, Signed PK Pieter Kam
Description
18th C Delft Blue and White Faience Covered Urn or Jar, Signed PK, Pieter Kam, later used by widow Kam-van der Kloot from the De Drie Posteleyne Astonne (The Three Porcelain Ash-Barrels) factory. Decorated with Chinoiserie iconography, old copper repair to rim. Measuring 8 inches H x 4 W. Also marked with 7 on underside of urn and 4 under lid.
Pieter Gerritsz Kam was the owner and master potter of the factory between 1700 and 1705. After his death, the same PK mark continued to be used by his widow, Maria van der Kloot-Kam, until roughly 1716.
Pieces from the Kam family are celebrated for their high-quality Chinoiserie designs, which were Dutch interpretations of Chinese Kangxi porcelain. Common motifs include birds, floral mille fleurs (parsley) patterns, and traditional Asian landscapes.
