Antique Plaster Portrait Medallion of Madame Armande Dieude Defly, created in 1863 by French sculptor Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux. 

Artist: Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875).
Subject: Madame Defly (1785-1875), who served as a reader to Princess Mathilde Bonaparte.
Material: Plaster
Context: Through Madame Defly, Carpeaux secured entree to the imperial court of Napoleon III.
