Antique Japanese Kutani Porcelain Pedestal Bowl, Meiji Period
Description
Japanese Kutani porcelain pedestal bowl of flared form, richly decorated in overglaze enamels and gilt. The exterior features alternating cartouches with figural and landscape scenes, including a fisherman and lakeside pavilions, set against densely ornamented floral grounds in iron-red, blue, yellow, and gilt. The rim and foot are accented with geometric gilt borders.
The interior is decorated with a motif and a stylized polychrome border along the rim. The underside bears a red Kutani-style mark.
