Victorian Gold Mourning Locket Brooch with Diamond and Enamel, with Matching Earrings c. 1870
Description
Fine Victorian mourning set comprising a large gold locket brooch with central old-mine cut diamond framed by black and white enamel and beadwork decoration, the reverse fitted with a glazed compartment containing woven hair and engraved dated Aug. 1, 1870. Tests as 14K, weighs 18.2 grams total. Diameter approx. 1.75 in.
Together with a matching pair of earrings, each set with an old-cut diamond on black enamel within a silver-topped gold mount, approx. 0.5 in.
Condition: age-related wear; brooch glass with scratches.
