Jean Camus (French, 19th Century) Portrait Miniature of an Officer, Signed

A finely painted portrait miniature depicting a young officer in white uniform with green collar and gold epaulettes, wearing the insignia of an order. Signed lower right J. Camus. The portrait is set in a circular ormolu mount within a wooden frame backed with a page from a bilingual Latin-French Psalter, a likely early devotional addition.

Jean Camus was a skilled Parisian miniaturist active during the mid-19th century, noted for his precision and delicacy of expression. His works often depict aristocratic or military sitters from the Napoleonic and Bourbon Restoration circles.
