Large Antique Ebony & Sterling Jewelled Sri Lankan Elephant Kandy Festival
Description
An ornately carved ebony wood elephant, detailed with high-quality silver, inlaid bone toes, and glass jewels, represents the ceremonial elephants of Kandy’s annual Esala Perahera. The festival honors the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, which is traditionally carried in a special casket (ransivige) atop the most honored elephant. 12 inches H x 8 x 5 deep.
