This exquisite patinated bronze sculpture of a bear is a characteristic work by the highly regarded Russian animal sculptor, Colonel Nikolai Ivanovich Lieberich (1828-1883), a prominent 19th-century master celebrated for transitioning Russian sculpture from rigid academism toward Naturalism and Realism.
