Large Himalayan Lanna / Shan Bronze-Mounted Wood Opium Pot, Late 19th Century

Late 19th Century
Bronze-mounted carved wood opium storage pot, featuring a domed wooden body reinforced with riveted bronze straps and repoussé panels, and a small removable metal cap with ring handle. These vessels were traditionally used to store and heat opium paste in the opium trade routes of the Shan States and Lanna Kingdom. Rich patina and surface wear consistent with age and use.
Dimensions: approx. 13 in diameter × 5 in high
Condition: Age-related wear, oxidation, small surface losses, good overall.
