Edo period Japanese Samurai Long Katana
Description
Edo period (1603-1868) Japanese samurai dark long katana . The blade is mumei, or unsigned, an. 26.1 inches , overall 40.9 inches with saya or scabbard. The blade has very stunning Hamon with a few blemishes. The dark koshirae is in perfect shape and very good-looking. The Fuchi and Kashira are made in a wave pattern called ‘Hiranami’ style, a design of broad, crashing waves. The tsuba is iron, an armorer’s tsuba, signed, and very attractive. It is wavy with faint scenes of landscape and skies. The wooden saya is in excellent shape also. Overall a very collectible and handsome Japanese samurai sword. Circa 1800-1850. Sword measures 40.5 inches, blade measures 26.5 inches L.
