Description
Rita Mount (Canadian, 1888-1967) was a notable Canadian painter born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1888. She began her extensive artistic training at the age of ten, studying under her cousin, the painter Georges Delfosse. She was particularly renowned for her marine scenes and landscapes. Mount traveled extensively to find inspiring subject matter, sketching and painting in the Gaspé region and elsewhere in Quebec, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Western Canada, including Banff (1934) and Victoria (1937). Paper measures 4.5” x 6.25”, 5.75” x 7.75” framed.
