Antique Cloister Bell with Wrought Iron Bracket Continental, 18th-19th century A substantial cast bronze cloister bell, decorated in relief with a putto/cherub, retaining a rich aged verdigris patina. Mounted in its original wrought iron bracket with architectural triangular frame and fleur-de-lys finial. Overall height: 23 in. (58.5 cm)
Description:
An authentic cloister bell, traditionally used within monastery or convent courtyards to summon the community to prayer or mark the passage of time. The bronze bell bears a charming relief of a putto, symbolic of divine joy and spiritual protection. Its strong green patina and weathered wrought iron frame attest to centuries of outdoor service.
