Tibetan Thangka Buddhist painting, depicting the Bhavacakra, or "Wheel of Life".
The Bhavacakra is a symbolic representation of samsara, the cycle of reincarnation and rebirth in Buddhist cosmology.
The wheel is held by Yama, the lord of death, and the different sections of the wheel represent the six realms of existence where sentient beings can be reborn based on their karma. The image is often found at the entrances of monasteries and serves as a teaching tool to illustrate the causes of suffering and the path to liberation.
