Description

Japanese Muromachi long katana sword NBTHK attributed to Kashu Norimitsu in the Muromachi period (1336-1573). This swordsmith was active in the early 16th century. Kashu resided in the Kaga province that was ruled by Maeda clan when Norimitsu was alive. The Kaga province was very rich at the time, and it is believed that Norimitsu might have forged swords for Samurai warriors living in Kaga domain since he served Maeda clan. The mumei (unsigned) blade is 26.9 inches, just beautiful, free of blemishes and scratches, almost perfect. The temper line or hamon, is wonderful. The koshirae is superb, with an iron tsuba. The Habaki is copper. The blade as been attributed to Norimitsu through Tokubetsu Kicho Token as especially precious in the former system (1948-1982).
