James Kinnear (Scottish, 1846-1917) Watercolour
James Scott Kinnear (Scottish, 1846-1917) Watercolour Landscape, Loch Leven Castle. Depicting figures fishing off boats in the mid ground, with Loch Leven Castle in the background. Loch Leven Castle, originally built around 1300, was famously where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner for almost a year in 1567-8 and forced to abdicate the throne to her infant son. Signed lower left in red, titled on verso. In original gilt frame with paper label on verso. Measuring 10 inches H x 14.5 W within matting, frame measures 17 inches x 21.5 W.
