Map of Scotland ca. 1595 Gerardus Mercator

Map of Scotland from 1595 by Abraham Ortelius and engraved by P. Galle. It was created for Epitome du Theatre du Monde and is a copper engraving which may have been copied from a 1564 map of the British Isles by Gerardus Mercator. It omits the Isle of Arran and The Hebrides. Approx. 4.5 x 3 inches and framed to 9.5 x 9 inches. Provenance: A Dutch family collection that moved to Montreal in the 1920’s.
