Early Edo Katana Jumyo NBTHK Kabuto Katanakake
Kanbun era (1661-1673) katana with NBTHK Kicho papers of the Jumyo school. The Jumyo school has its origin from Yamato and moved to Mino province in the Kamakura period (1185-1333). The tradition continued for centuries right up until the end of the Edo period (1868) . The swords they produced were prized as celebrated gifts to Daimyo families amongst the samurai society. Characteristics: Hamon, or temper line is gunome- midare with togari and sungashi, early Edo period in Mino province. NBTHK papers Kicho token (June 20, 1980). Blade length is 68.4 cm, weight is 646 g, total weight 1146 g, koshirae total length is 95 cm. Koshirae: the sword is housed in a green ishimeji-nuri (stone-textured lacquer) scabbard. The tsuba is a Nanban tsuba featuring a dragon motif. The fushi-kashira is decorated with a design of Mount Fuji and a cloud dragon. Kabuto Katanakake: the katana comes with an old antique wooden sword stand with real deer horns. Wonderfully carved, the wooden kabuto is decorated with a demon shishi. Silk bag included.
