Large Chinese Hetian Jade Chukuo Bi Disc Han Style
A large Chinese Hetian Jade dragon bi disc of East Han Dynasty style. The circular disc is carved on both sides around the central aperture with a field of raised nodes. It is surmounted to the top with two finely carved dragons facing centre, and, two carved smaller creatures facing centre. A central medallion is carved with a creature. ??This type of bi disc is known as Chukuo Bi and includes decorative elements which symbolize the strength and prosperity of the imperial family’s descendants and the auspiciousness brought by divine beasts. ??Dimensions: 14 x 8 inches, approx.
