Important U.S Civil War Letter by John A. Dahlgren
From 1863, in a custom frame that measures 15.5 x 20 inches. Handwritten letter on official congress stationary, featuring the embossed US capitol building in the top left corner. Regarding the U.S Navy during the Civil War. Of particular importance because it regards the area of interest of Warsaw / Warsaw Sound where the capture of Ram Fingal took place months prior. The letter by Rear Admiral John Adolphus Dahlgren, reads as follows:??Flag Ship Philadelphia, off Morris Island, December 11th, 1863.??Sir, ?On the arrival of the Patapsco at Warsaw, to relieve the Nantucket, you will report to commander T.H. Stevens as Executive Officer of the Patapsco, until the arrival of your relief.??Very respectfully, Your obedient servant, JA Dahlgren, Rear Admiral, S.A.B Squadron??Lieut. H.L. Howison, USS Nantucket.
