Sterling Silver Gimbaled Lighter with Jade Handle, mounted by Gump’s circa 1890-1920. Late Eighteenth century jade. 9 inches L x 3 W. Jade handle / belt hook measures 4.75 inches L x 1 W x 1 H. Published in: Chinese Jade the Immortal Stone By S. Bernstein: "Gump’s excelled at ingeniously incorporating fine jades into useful objects which were appropriate to decorate the well appointed San Francisco homes on Nob Hill and Pacific Heights. The Gump’s workshop elegant silver cigarette lighter mounted on an eighteenth century white jade belt hook is one such object."
