Fine Japanese WW2 Formosa Colonial Sword The island of Formosa is today known as Taiwan. This fine Japanese sword has a hard-to-find marking on the guard–there are a number of kanji as well as the word TOK YO. The saya/scabbard is made of sharkskin. The sword measures 28.25 from the blade tip to the front edge of the habaki. This sword is in exceptional condition. The saya is perfect. The handle, same (rayskin), and wire wrap are all perfect. The blade has some of its original acid-etched yakiba (temper line) still visible. The blade is perfectly straight. The locking mechanism works perfectly.
