Lot 150A:
Antique Japanese Tetsusabiji Samurai Armor
Antique rare Japanese samurai armor. The cuirass, or Dou, is Tetsusabiji, which means natural iron with no lacquer or paint, is very thick and much heavier than usual cuirass. The helmet or kabuto is a rare Toppai with a kamon maedate (front decoration). The menpo is also Tetsusabiji, the natural iron unprotected for centuries has developed a warm rustic patina, the same that we find on the cuirass. The blue lacing is wonderful and in great condition for age. Circa 18th century. No black base included, no Hitsu or armor box.
