Japanese samurai long katana, Gendaito blade. The term Gendaito refers to Japanese swords produced during 1876 to 1945, so forged by sword smiths around the Meiji period. This blade is 28.4 inches (72cm) signed Mikami Sadanao Saku. Nice Gendaito like this one are hand forged and offers a folded construction like the very old ones. The blade is thick and features a well made itame hada (wood grain pattern) and the hamon is present the length of the blade all the way to the kissaki (tip of the blade). The koshirae is modern, the silk of the tsuka is clean, with detailed fuchi, kashira and black menukis. The saya (scabbard) is also in excellent condition. C. 1876-1945. Total length of sword in saya is 41.25 inches.
