Thomas Mower Martin Rocky Mountains Landscape
Thomas Mower Martin (Canadian 1838-1934) Rocky Mountains Landscape. Signed lower left, measures 11 x 14.5 inches W within matting, frame measures 21 x 25 inches (some loss to frame edges). Martin was a founding member of the Royal Canadian Academy. In the 1880s, he traveled west to paint in the Rocky Mountains under the sponsorship of the Canadian Pacific Railway who allowed free passage. Active into his 90s, he became known as Canada’s oldest artist.
