Japanese Samurai Suit of Armour Maeda Clan Kaga
Antique Japanese Samurai armour from the Edo period, from the Kaga Clan, the richest in medieval Japan, who recruited the best craftsmen due to their wealth. Zunari type kabuto, with horsehair decoration. Dou yokohagi type breastplate, alternating black and gold lacquer colour. Sangu which harmonizes the lord’s armour. Elegant and refined armour, which aims to destabilize the opponent on the battlefield. Comprised of high quality iron, lacquer, silk, lacings and gold finish. Sits 67 inches H x 22 W (as shown). Art, cuisine, architecture, and culture flourished under the wealth and patronage of the Maeda family, the daimyo lords who ruled what is now Ishikawa Prefecture from 1583 to 1869. The buildings, gardens, crafts, and food of this unique region of Japan are inseparable from their legacy.
