Signed Myochin Dragonfly Samurai Armor
Signed Muneko Myochin samurai armor with painted dragonfly on dou (cuirass) and wonderful dragonfly maedate (front helmet decoration). The dragonfly, or AKITSU in Japanese, is a national symbol in Japan, and represents joy and rebirth. The country’s oldest history book, the Kojiki, (A.D. 700) even refers to Japan as Akitsushima, or dragonfly island. For a samurai, the dragonfly is a fearless insect that never move back or retreat. Signed Ken-suji kabuto , or helmet , Go-mai dou or five-piece cuirass with painted dragonfly, gold-painted kote or sleeves, gold-painted haidate or leg protection, suneate or lower leg protection. Note: due to age, there is damages to the silk, mostly on the kuzazuri or hip skirt.
