Description
THE SIMON CHANG COLLECTION – A Japanese antique black silk tomesode (formal) kimono with five daki-mon family crests located near the upper right and left breast, the centre back and on the back of each sleeve, the lower body with a kikko (hexagon) and butterfly motif in oranges and golds, oddly this kimono also features several hexagon near the upper left shoulder which normally is not seen in tomesode kimonos, white silk lining, circa early to mid-1900’s. Hexagon motifs are meant to represent turtles that represent longevity and good fortune, butterfly motifs represent transformation and new beginnings.
