Set of etchings by Herbert Raine, an English-born architect who immigrated to Montreal in 1907 and became a celebrated printmaker and member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA). The Fisher Folk at Kamouraska depicts a group of local French-Canadian villagers gathering along the St. Lawrence River shoreline in the historic, picturesque region of Kamouraska, Quebec and Rest from Labour, Portuguese Fishermen captures a candid, atmospheric moment of Portuguese fishermen taking a break on the docks next to their vessels. The latter is inscribed by the artist as a gift. Both signed in pencil lower right, titled lower left. Larger measures 11.5 inches H x 13 W, smaller measures 9.75 x 10.75 inches, framed.
