Antique Chinese Export Sterling Silver Dragon Box marked Sterling C.J. and Co.

The hinged cover and exterior walls are decorated in repousse and hand-chased relief work, featuring a four-clawed dragon dynamically swirling amidst stippled wind clouds with interior wood lining. 

C.J. and Co. was a well-known silversmith firm operating out of the Hong Kong or Shanghai regions around the turn of the 20th century (circa 1900). They specialized in producing high-quality export silverware tailored specifically for Western markets. Measuring 6 inches W x 3.25 deep x 1.5 H. Total weight 371.7 grams.
